A few months after my 16th birthday with a freshly minted driver’s license in tow, a schoolmate and I were making a delivery in my mother’s car. Task complete, I started to back the vehicle up.

As it sometimes goes with young drivers, I was initially engrossed in conversation and not paying enough attention to the very long and narrow driveway.  The steep culvert on either side meant there was little to no room for error.

Did I mention my back up skills were more than a little wobbly in those days?

I tried to keep the wheel straight.  I really did.
