We Will Not End Homelessness
Warren Maddox has been the Executive Director of the Fredericton Homeless Shelters Inc., for 13 years. During that time, he has overseen a re-visioning of the Shelters, overhauled the financial systems and put the organization on a sustainable path. The sustainability of the Shelters is paramount in all they do and has been part of their Strategic Plan for a dozen years.
The agency has developed into one of the most successful in the Province. By adopting a logic based progression, those experiencing homelessness are able to find a path that leads to a permanent home. The creation of support teams both inside the Shelters and beyond has been a critical element in their success.
Maddox began creating transitional spaces for the Shelters in 2017 with one building. That has now grown to four apartment buildings and a few apartment units. Over the past three years, the Shelters reach has expanded along the St. John River Valley to support the work between Perth/Andover and Fredericton.
Maddox currently sits on the board for the Indigenous Reaching Home and the Rural and Remote Federal funds. Maddox has called Fredericton his home for over 30 years. He believes in continuous learning and is currently enrolled in a Strategic Executive Program with the Wallace McCain Institute.
